Editorial Policy
CoffeeMakerLab exists to help readers make confident decisions about coffee gear. This policy explains the standards behind everything we publish.
Independence
We decide what to cover and what to recommend. No brand, retailer, or affiliate partner can buy coverage, influence a CML Score, or change a verdict. We do not publish sponsored reviews.
Evidence and sourcing
We base recommendations on published specifications, the consensus of independent expert reviewers, and verified owner ratings. We do not invent specifications, measurements, prices, awards, quotes, or credentials. If we cannot support a claim, we do not make it.
No first-hand claims
We do not operate a lab, and we do not describe our work as first-hand product use. When we describe how a product performs, we are summarizing published evidence. See How We Review.
Use of AI tools
We use software tools, including AI models, to help collect and summarize research and to prepare first drafts. These tools make mistakes, so an editor reviews every article before publication, checks product details against their sources, and is responsible for what we publish.
Balance
Every review covers drawbacks as well as strengths, and we say plainly who should skip a product. A list with nothing but praise is an advertisement, not a review.
Health and safety
We do not give medical advice or make health claims about coffee or caffeine. Coffee makers and espresso machines involve heat, pressure, and electricity, so we point out relevant safety features and certifications when the manufacturer documents them.
Accuracy and corrections
When we get a fact wrong, we correct it promptly and update the article date. If you spot an error, please contact us.
Commissions and coverage
We earn commissions when readers buy through some of our links. Whether a product earns a commission, and how much, never determines whether we recommend it or where it ranks. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Authors
Each category has a dedicated writer, and every article is credited to its author. Readers can find each author’s other articles on their profile page.
